Abstract
A novel optical single sideband filter based on a phase modulator and electrical processing is proposed. Complete sideband suppression is theoretically achieved for intensity modulated carrier-unsuppressed optical signals with pulse shape transparency. Sideband suppression power ratio exceeding 15 dB is achieved for an optical non-return to zero signal using common electrical components.
