Abstract
In this paper, we present an adaptive multirate multistage PIC receiver designed for UMTS base stations. Its adaptive selection of the partial cancellation parameters and the amplitudes of the regenerated signals fights against the near–far effect, a serious enemy of conventional PIC receivers. The receiver has low computational complexity and it outperforms other commonly employed receivers such as the correlation, the multirate SIC and the conventional PIC receivers.
