Abstract

In mobile communication, out of the many fading eliminating techniques, a less exploded technique is based on the physical parameter of the transmitter by varying the transmitter gain and hence the physical dimension of the transmitting antenna. This paper investigates a simple method to eliminate both flat and frequency-selective fading effects in a suburban and urban Rayleigh environment respectively, in different multi antenna set-ups by dynamically varying the signal-to-noise ratio SNR, the transmitter gain G and the effective aperture Ae of the transmitting antenna. We consider here single input-single output SISO, single input-multi output SIMO, multi input-single output MISO, and multi input-multi output MIMO multi antenna systems. The data stream before binary phase shift keying BPSK modulation is also encoded using Hamming coding which offers significant performance improvement. Performance of the system is analysed in terms of bit error rate BER. Experimental results derived show that with adaptive gain and variable effective aperture the performance of a BPSK-based framework gives satisfactory performance despite the presence of Rayleigh channels.
