Abstract

ABSTRACT In the rapidly growing size and intricacy of the power system network, Load Frequency Control (LFC) is considered to be the utmost vital requirement for supplying quality power to the customers. Mostly, the real power generation-demand equilibrium is disturbed succeeding a contingency and it is difficult to maintain the equilibrium via conventional control methods. To prevail on this issue, intelligent control methods are necessary. This paper proposes a PDF plus (1+PI) controller for frequency regulation of Distributed Power Generation System (DPGS). The supremacy of suggested Adaptive Differential Evolution (ADE) technique over the DE technique and PDF plus (1+PI) controller over PID is established. It is found that ADE based PDF plus (1+PI) is more effective for frequency regulation compared to the conventional PID controller. Also, the experiment of the suggested method was carried out in HIL real-time simulation using OPAL-RT setup, for authentication of its feasibility and validity.
