Abstract

The inductor series resistance may lead to large steady-state errors at the output of the boost converter if it is not accounted for in the design of the controller and in the stability analysis of the closed-loop systems. In this letter, a controller that relies only on output voltage measurements, with an easily tunable parameter, is designed for the boost converter. The controller guarantees a tight asymptotic regulation of the output voltage despite load variations and the presence of the parasitic inductor resistance. The stability analysis taking into account the inductor resistance is carried out within the framework of the highly nonlinear closed-loop system. The robustness of this controller is validated by computer simulations and experimental tests.
