Abstract

AbstractIn this paper, mutual interference in PCS and microwave systems in a spectrum sharing scenario is analyzed. Typical values for operating MW links and cellular systems are used for evaluation. The use of adaptable smart antenna systems as a mean to reduce intersystem interference is proposed. The access techniques for PCS considered are: TDMA, FDMA and CDMA. Carrier to Interference ratio is adopted as performance criterion. Geographical separation required between both systems for their operation in terms of antennas separation is studied for different scenarios. The impact of proposed strategies in PCS system capacity for CDMA is also reported.
