Abstract

The paper describes the basic problems regarding the adaptation of the final code system of the American Association of Public Opinion Research used in telephone-based surveys for the Russian environment as well as ways to solve these problems. The basic challenges researchers generally face are coding of implicit and explicit refusals, instable telephone companies’ signal, and interaction of different voice communication channels and software. The solution of these problems depends on the values of the final codes needed to calculate coefficient of performance. The authors propose recommendations helping to organize, conduct and combine the current and the scheduled telephone-based surveys via both mobile and landline phones; possible experimental plans are also described in the paper.
