Abstract

In the famous story of Cain's murdrer, jealousy is the source of violence. But where does that jealousy come from ? What is the hidden ground where it can grow up ? A narrative reading of the relationship between Adam and Eve in Gn 2-3 helps to shed some light on mat question. Basically, Cain is the heir of his parent's fault, which gave space in themselves to the inner snake of envy. In this light, human vocation appears to be this one : to learn to become the shepherd of the animality present in everyone from the beginning.
