Abstract

The chemistry of Cl 2PCF 2PCl 2 1 [1] has been investigated in detail. Substitution reactions led to a series of compounds of the type X 2PCFPX 2 (X = H, F, OR, NR 2, SR). Transformation of 1 to fourcoordinated derivatives Cl 2P(Z)CF 2P(Z)Cl 2 (Z = O, S) has been performed. Various reactions of these compounds will be presented, e.g. the isolation of the first adamantane type of structure containing CF 2-bridging groups, P 4O 4S 4(CF 2) 2, from reaction of Cl 2P(O)CF 2P(O)Cl 2 with P 4S 10. The complexing properties of symmetrical substituted trivalent phosphorus derivatives, X 2PCF 2PX 2, (X = F, OR, NR 2), towards metal carbonyls have been studied; these ligands formed chelates of the type LM(CO) 4 (M = Cr, Mo, W). In case of thiol-substituted derivatives (RS) 2PCF 2P(SR) 2 different forms (A, B) of complexation in reaction with NorMo(CO) 4 have been observed; an equilibrium is obtained depending on the nature of substituent R on sulfur: ▪
