Abstract
In recent years, no aspect of clinical nephrology has expanded with as much new information as the broad subject of acute renal failure. This clinical syndrome of diverse etiologies is characterized by acute deterioration of renal function. It may occur not only as a result of intrinsic renal damage, but also from impairment of renal perfusion or with urinary tract obstruction. The clinical spectrum of acute renal failure is constantly changing with new advances in clinical practice, such as the use of different antibiotics or more modern methods of diagnostic imaging.
