Abstract
Ureteral obstruction of a solitary kidney by a gravid uterus is an unusual cause of acute renal failure in pregnancy. A patient with this complication demonstrated dramatic clinical improvement resulting from decompression of the ureter following bed rest in the appropriate lateral decubitus position. Implications for the etiology of physiological hydroureter and hydronephrosis of normal pregnancy are discussed. (JAMA1981;246:1230-1231)
