Abstract

Three cases of ocular damage which occurred during or shortly after the use of oral contraceptive compounds are reported. Although ocular complications are rare, they should be kept in mind since immediate treatment may prove sight-saving, as demonstrated by these cases. While no direct relationship between estrogen dosage and incidence of thromboembolic diseases has been definitely established, it is recommended that contraceptive pills containing lower dosages of estrogen be used.
