Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the epidemiology and etiology of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). It includes a review of the prevalence and mortality of AML. The etiology and pathobiology of AML as well as a discussion of secondary and therapy-related AML are reviewed. Risk factors for AML are also addressed.
