Abstract

Summary A case of acute mercury poisoning in a 2-year-old boy who was exposed to marine antifouling paint is described. The boy's illness began with stomatitis and laryngotracheobronchitis. Several days later, he developed evidence of mild tubular necrosis and possibly transient ataxia. His urine mercury level was 0.134 mg. per liter. Recovery was spontaneous and complete.
