Six years later Cazenave2gave the disease its present name. It was not until 1872 that Kaposi3subdivided the disease into "lupus erythematosus discoides" and "lupus erythematosus discretus and aggregatus." He was the first to realize the generalized and systemic manifestations of the latter form with its attending grave prognosis, as three of his 11 cases died while under observation....Bibliography1.
