Abstract
It is commonly known that iodinated contrast medium (CM) is a nephrotoxic agent and a frequent cause of acute kidney injury (AKI). However, there is debate as to whether contrast-associated AKI (CA-AKI) is clinically significant when weighed against the benefit of CM-enhanced imaging studies in the critically ill. This was a prospective observational study to assess whether the use of CM increases the incidence of clinically significant AKI in intensive care unit (ICU) patients.
