Abstract

Rationale: Green (Camellia sinensis;CS) and hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa;HS) teas have bioactive compounds such as catechins and anthocyanins respectively1,2, which have been suggested in the treatment of obesity3. This study aims to evaluate the acute effect of CS and HS tea ingestion on energy expenditure (EE), respiratory quotient (RQ) and oxidized substrate (OS) rates in healthy individuals.
