Abstract

Abstract Acute chylous peritonitis is a rare occurrence and like chylous ascites may be a manifestation of an underlying disease process. In over 50 per cent of reported cases the underlying cause has never been determined. A case is reported which for the first time gives lymphangiographic evidence that thoracic duct obstruction may be an aetiological factor in the previously reported idiopathic cases and a second case is reported which demonstrated normal abdominal lymphatics.
