Abstract

Royal Holloway College's Victorian Boilerhouse was given to the Drama Department in 1999 for development as an International Centre for Performance Research. The Department planned two practical explorations of the space prior to discussions with the newly appointed theatre architects on its future conversion. In the first of these research projects led by Alison Hodge, Anna Zubrzycki and Grzegorz Bral of Poland's Tragon Teatr worked with students of the Drama Department of Royal Holloway College on Tragon's actor training which insists on a dialogue between actor and environment. The process was documented by Arts Archives; a CD-Rom of images from the work and participants' discussion is currently available, a video of the training will also be published in December 2000.
