Abstract

Phase relations in parts of the sytem CuCoO have been delineated, and activities of CuO in CuOCoO solid solutions at 1000°C have been determined by equilibrating members of this solid-solution series with Cu 2O and a gas phase of known oxygen pressures. An intermediate phase of approximate composition 2CuO · CoO is stable at the temperature of the present investigation. The activity-composition curve shows considerable positive deviation from ideality at both ends of the system.
