Abstract

1. Estrogens have no direct effect on the secretion of thyroid hormones. 2. The content of TRF in hypothalamic extracts of rats varied depending on the level of estrogens in the blood: it was decreased in ovariectomized rats in comparison with the estrus stage. 3. Ovariectomy disrupted the response of the pituitary to TRF. Evidently the pituitary of ovariectomized animals becomes less sensitive to the stimulating effect of TRF.
