Abstract

The activity coefficients at infinite dilution for cyclopentane and cycloheptane in solvents n-hexadecane, n-octadecane, n-eicosane, n-tetracosane, n-octacosane, and n-dotriacontane have been determined at various temperatures using medium-pressure packed-column gas-liquid chromatography. The results together with previously published activity coefficients at infinite dilution for cyclohexane, benzene, and n-alkane in an n-alkane system have been analysed. Mixed second virial coefficients B 12 for nitrogen + cyclopentane and + cycloheptane have also been reported and are compared with theoretically derived values.
