Abstract

This article deals with the measurement of infinite dilution activity coefficients and vapor-liquid equilibria for a water+phenol system at 101.3 kPa using an ebulliometer. The Wilson parameters (Wilson, 1964) have been determined using experimental data together with the literature values of consistent vapor-liquid equilibrium and excess enthalpy data in the Dortmund Data Bank (Gmehling, 1985). Furthermore, ASOG group pair parameters (Kojima and Tochigi, 1978) relating to the ArOH group have been determined using experimental data, and the infinite dilution activity coefficients of 11 phenols in water has been then predicted using the determined ASOG parameters.
