Abstract

Abstract Diphenol substituted sulfides have been studied as stabilizers poypropylene against thermal oxidation. Both phenol groups of antioxidants are reacting with oxidation reaction centres, the sulfide group reacting with hydroperoxides. The reaction of phenol-substituted disulfides with tert-butylhydroperoxide was also studied. The role of unstable sulfur-containing intermediates is discussed.
