Abstract

This paper presents the results of an exploratory research supported by digital ethnography on internet pages and on Facebook as a social network in Mexico, in order to discover how indigenous peoples, communities and organizations in Mexico carry out collective actions for the defense of the water in their territories. That is a type of activism that reveals a series of strategies, resources and collective actions (online / offline) of indigenous communities that are specifically aimed to protection, free use and defense of water. These actions in the digital context not only show the problems and the struggle of native cultures for the protection of their territory, their resources, culture and life, but also make visible the use of ICTs as tools, as a mean of information and as a space for social struggle.
