Abstract

Align the tourist activities with the principles of sustainability is seen as a challenge, but an alternative to achieve sustainable tourism. Thus, sustainability indicators are tools that can provide information that can contribute to the contextualization of activity in order to guide efforts to reach such. In this perspective, the study proposes to analyze the tourism activities developed in Porto de Galinhas - PE, from the application of a set of sustainability indicators for tourism. For this, the methodology proposed by Hanai (2009) was used and a case study was carried out as a research strategy. From a qualitative approach, the data collection took place through semi-structured interviews with the main social actors involved in tourism activities, as well as non-participating observations and secondary data. The results indicate that the majority of sustainability dimensions analyzed presented unsustainable results, which leads to the need to review the forms of action of the various social actors involved with the activity.
