Abstract

This paper is concerned with a discussion of recent research at VPI&SU in the area of active structural acoustic control. The material is divided into progress in the areas of structural acoustics, actuators, sensors, and control approaches. However, due to the coupled nature of the problem, considerable effort throughout the program has been given to the interaction of these areas with each other. The results presented show that significant progress has been made toward controlling structurally radiated noise by active/adaptive means applied directly to the structure.
