Abstract

Code division multiple access (CDMA) is a compelling platform for developing and scaling multiple access wireless power transfer (WPT). However, the hardware implementation leads to compromises among power, efficiency and with the number of actors; the power is limited at the point of maximum efficiency and is constrained by the number of actors. We introduce an active segregated inductor (ASI) architecture to overcome these tradeoffs by increasing the effective voltage across the transmitter. Hardware prototypes with up to 4 actors demonstrate the effectiveness of ASI with two sections, increasing the power level two-fold for similar efficiencies.
