Abstract

Bad road conditions have a significant impact on passengers of a vehicle, in particular during long distance travel. Although continuous improvements are achieved by the design of chassis suspension systems, beyond high frequency vibrations must be absorbed by the passenger's seat. Since the optimal performance of passive seat suspension systems is almost achieved, active systems are a promising approach by which significant disturbances of the chassis are compensated effectively to improve the driver's comfort. This paper deals with a design of an active seat suspension control system that is suitable for passenger cars due its compactness in size.
