Abstract

An improved half-bridge type lossless capacitor-based on a clamped capacitor zero-voltage soft-switching asymmetrical PWM DC-DC power converter which makes use of a saturable reactor-assisted soft-switching technique is newly presented in this paper. This new power DC-DC converter with a high-frequency transformer link has many advantages such as lowered switching losses and conduction losses, high-power density, stable load operation in wide ranges, constant frequency operation and minimized EMI noise level. Its operating principle in steady-state is illustrated and its steady-state circuit analysis is performed as periodically-interrupted circuit. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the converter characteristics, the feasible experiments are carried out with a 150 W-200 kHz prototype soft-switched DC-DC power converter using power MOSFETs.
