Abstract

This paper outlines the involved in designing of a Sliding Mode Controller based sine wave inverter for grid connected photovoltaic (PV) system. The element that unites power between the PV energy and electrical grid is the inverter. To control the active power the grid must be injected at unity power factor and at low harmonic current. Synchronizing the grid Voltage and grid Current is the prime challenge that is faced while designing the grid connected inverter. The quicker steady state and transient responses are obtained by using sliding mode controller. The asymptotically stable system is obtained by tuning the control laws in accordance with the Lyapunov stability analysis. The implemented inverter model exhibits that it is proficient in controlling active power flow in a grid connected PV system with improved transient and steady state responses.
