Abstract

An experimental active noise control system is used to reduce the far-field noise generated by the bladevane interactions of a ducted fan. A complex noise signal containing multiple modes is effectively attenuated for a wide range of far-field angles using this system. This is accomplished through the superposition of individual anti-noise modes within the control software. Reductions of far-field noise of approximately 15 dB are achieved with this system and independent noise control is exhibited over the modes.
