Abstract
A review is given of reactions in which active manganese dioxide and its various modifications provide a reagent of choice for a mild, selective, heterogeneous oxidation of diverse classes of organic compounds. Applications of manganese dioxide as a dehydrogenation reagent, a coupling reagent, and as an analytical tool are also discussed. Part I 1.
