Active learning practices for the Buddhist economics course: some positive results

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to observe the responsiveness of students to active learning within a Buddhist economics course. After a brief introductory section, the second section of this paper explains Buddhist economics; the third section presents our Buddhist economics course in brief; the fourth section considers the nature of active learning and classroom research within the contextual pedagogy of Buddhist economics; the fifth reports the empirical findings of this study and the paper ends with a short conclusions. Students provided positive feedback and noted their increased understanding, which may be thought close to Buddhist wisdom (panna) transcending the duality of objective truth.
