Abstract

Inductor–capacitor (LC) filter in current source converter (CSC) exits resonance peak, which result in reducing control stability and amplifying harmonic component near resonance frequency. This study proposed a simply self-adjust notch filter active damping method for CSC. A notch filter is inserted into control loop to damp the control gain at resonance frequency, no need of additional sensor. The grid inductance varies as power system operating conditions change, which deteriorates notch filter damping performance because of resonance frequency changing. The harmonic impedance estimation method is used in the paper to estimate grid inductance and actively adjust notch filter centre frequency. Both simulation and experimental results verified the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method.
