Abstract

It is well known that the Active Control Technology (ACT) concepts achieve the benefits of improved mission performance and lower' cost, and the system is more integrated with digital Fly-By-Wire mechanization. For a commercial airplane, it is expected that this technology can reduce the total cost from production stage to operation and can contribute much to the efficient fuel consumption. Moreover, the potential benefits for achieving safty-flight or so called “fail-safe” can be obtained by applying this technology. For a fail-safe, the importance of in-flight failure accommodation for impaired airplane through the use of the restructura.ble flight control system (RFCS) is widely recognized. This special lecture will survey the recent development in active flight control technology and reviews the possible application of advanced control theories.
