Abstract

We describe a linear control-oriented model for fan or compressor blades flutter in gas turbine engines. We model the dynamics of blade rows in turbo-machinery as similar to those of a flexible disk. Aeromechanical modes form travelling waves as seen by the rotor. Since we chose the Spatial Fourier Coefficients to represent the state, the state space involves complex variables, which makes the model nonstandard. Modeling for control involves translation from rotating to stationary frame and including actuation and sensor signal models.
