Abstract

Problems of the involvement of molecular complexes of oxygen with variable-valence metal compounds in the liquid-phaseoxidation of organic compounds, including the chain initiation reactions in radical chain oxidation, via the interaction of suchcomplexes with the hydrocarbon are considered. The possibility of the operation of mechanisms resembling those of enzymicoxidation is analysed. Despite the lack in many instances of unambiguous evidence for the occurrence of the oxidationreaction via a mono- or di-oxygenase mechanism, one can assume that the reaction conditions and mechanisms in manychemical systems are close to those in biological systems. The bibliography includes 119 references.
