Abstract

This chapter will explain what phenomenological intersubjectivity is and why it is important to the experience of dancing. It will discuss two of my own practical choreographic processes employed while making the site-specific work Living La Pedrera (2006) in the Antoni Gaudi building La Pedrera in Barcelona. These two choreographic processes I have named ‘readiness’ and ‘repetition’. In this chapter I will reference the work of Jonathan Burrows and Atsushi Takenouchi as dance artists who also employ these choreographic tools within their own work.
