Abstract

This contribution deals with one of our unit’s current research projects. One central goal of the project is to utilise task-related concepts and methods of work psychology for evaluation of group work structures in the manufacturing area. Discussion will include how connections between concepts of the psychological theory of action regulation and the socio-technical systems approach can contribute to this aim. For example, the degree of collective autonomy, i.e. shared requirements for planning resulting from jointly-organised or executed work tasks, is analysed. Our investigation concept will be illustrated: the possibility of correlation between technological and organisational attributes of group work systems, structures of collective action regulation, and characteristics of the task orientation of the group members will be explored.
