Abstract

i. Experimental Studies. To find the factors governing the effects of an explosion of a blast hole charge in the design of a burnout cut, experiments were conducted at Tishinskii mine; one on a proving ground in cutting of mining workings, and another in ore stoping with the use of self-propelled equipment. The hardness f of intersected rocks and ores varied over the range 7-15. Holes of depth 1.75-2.4 m were made with a manual perforator PR-27; while holes 2.4-3.0 m deep were made with track-mounted drills of the Cavodrill 555D and Minimatic types. Ammonite cartridges 6ZhV of diameter 0.036 m were used. Blasting was done with inverse initiation, using both fuse initiation and electric firing.
