Abstract
1. Treatment of 1,1-dichloro-1-hexene with sodium ethyl sulfide gave two compounds: 1-chloro-2-ethylthio-1-hexene and 1,2-bisethylthio-1-hexene. 2. In the reactions of sodium ethyl sulfide with 1,2-dichloro-1-hexene and with 1-chloro-1-hexyne the same two compounds were formed, i.e., 1-chloro-2-ethylthio-1-hexene and 1,2-bisethylthio-1-hexene. 3. The hydrolysis of 1-chloro-2-ethylthio-1-hexene in an acid medium was accompanied by rearrangement and formation of 1-ethylthio-2-hexanone. 4. When α-chloro ketones are treated with ethanethiol in an acid medium, chlorine is replaced by the ethylthio group.
