Abstract
Acta Ophthalmologica publishes clinical and experimental original articles, reviews, editorials, educational photo‐essays, letters to the editor and doctoral theses. Priority is given to high‐quality manuscripts that have novelty value and new aspects. Manuscripts are accepted on the condition that they have not been, and will not be published elsewhere, except for abstracts of oral presentations. All submissions are first subjected to chief editors and co‐editors for evaluation and will be then reviewed by two or more independent reviewers, editorial board members, and guest editors, if the manuscript has potential to be published in Acta Ophthalmologica. To date, acceptance rate is less than 15%. Over 2000 review invitations are annually sent out. The median time from submission to online publication is less than 200 days. On average, the editors‐in‐chief decision is given during the first 3 days after submission. In this talk review process in Acta Ophthalmologica will be thoroughly discussed.
