Abstract

AbstractAn in vitro head space method was used to determine the Ostwald partition coefficient (OPC) of acrylonitrile in the following liquids: lactated Ringer's solution, fresh rat blood, fresh human blood, outdated human blood and cellular fractions of either fresh or outdated human blood. Fresh human blood cells have the strongest affinity for acrylonitrile (OPC >700). Fresh whole human blood has a lower OPC, approximately 500. Lactated Ringer's solution, outdated human blood and water had lower OPC values, approximately 200.
