Abstract

Acrolein is studied experimentally: The electron impact energy loss spectrum is measured between 4 and 20 eV and the photoelectron spectrum between 10 and 26 eV.Acrolein is studied theoretically with HAM/3. Good agreement is obtained with the excitation and ionization energies from the two spectra and also with the nπ* energy and the known electron affinity. The results are compared with those for cis-acrolein and for butadiene.
