Abstract

Acrodermatitis enteropathica is a rare disease of infancy characterized by distinctive epidermal lesions, diarrhea, and growth failure. A patient is described in whom study of the serum fatty acids in response to various treatments revealed defective interconversion of the unsaturated fatty acids, in particular, in the synthesis of the essential fatty acids.
