Abstract

The Curriculum for kindergartens (hereinafter the curriculum) is a national document, which is intended both to respect the tradition of Slovenian kindergartens, as well as to familiarize with newer theoretical views on early childhood education and the implementation of different solutions and approaches, thereby complementing, changing and upgrading the work in kindergartens. In this way, social science topics and goals, which are written in the curriculum in the subsection Society, can be achieved with interdisciplinary and integrated goals. With the children who sing in the preschool choir, we talked about social science topics through a group conversation. Through the study, we find that choir singing of children in the preschool period leads them to know the importance of cooperation and the importance of the community. We also learn that cooperation and helping others are the key to the functioning of the community and that it is important for everyonein society to cooperate and contribute to the common good. In addition, singing in the preschool period also helps in the development of social skills and the promotion of empathy, as singing in a choir also prepares children for the integration into society.
