Abstract

BackgroundThere is a lack of literature describing how best to assist faculty to develop their skills for use of simulation, particularly by those experienced in its use. MethodThis descriptive study included surveying 58 individuals who attended the 8th Annual International Nursing Simulation/Learning Resource Centers Conference in 2009. Participants provided demographic information and completed the Acquisition of Simulation Skills survey. ResultsThe majority of participants (95%) were using simulation. The preferred learning style for acquiring skills in simulation was practice with feedback from others skilled in simulation technique (52%). ConclusionsData suggest that faculty development should include practice, with feedback from others skilled in simulation technique. Further studies are recommended.
