Abstract

Thunder Horse is the largest development project in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Seismic imaging of this field is very complicated due to the large salt bodies surrounding the development area. Overlying salt and undesirable noise (multiples) obscure seismic images of the reservoir intervals—a serious problem since adequate seismic imaging is critical to proper understanding of the geologic complexity and commercial success of field development.
