Abstract

This article describes one academic library's experiences with nursing electronic books (e-books). The majority of nursing e-books at the Michigan State University (MSU) Libraries have been acquired through four e-book platforms: ebrary, Rittenhouse's R2 Library, Wiley, and Wolters Kluwer/Ovid. The MSU nursing librarian has actively promoted these nursing e-books in a variety of ways. Usage statistics from 184 nursing e-books across these four platforms from 2009 and 2010 were examined and compared to determine e-book use and help the nursing librarian better meet the collection development needs of nursing users. Future plans and considerations are also discussed.
